This hotel was a good central location in town, and was extremely cheap! The strip club, "Splash" is right down the road, and all of the local strippers would bring their customer's back to this hotel hourly , servicing all of the "older" fishermen! The hour or two that I would attempt to sleep at night, was impossible due to all of the noise from And, every night at pm, the hotel would close down the swimming pool for their nightly chlorine dump! They would literally dump a 5 gallon bucket of pure chlorine powder into the swimming pool!
It's no wonder the cocroaches were dropping like flies every time they'd take a dive into the pool! But, I guess the hotel would have to "sanitize," considering all of the Prostitution taking place!! So, be sure not to swim in the pool! The staff was friendly, but that's their job.
No hospitality is offered, this is NOT a 5 star hotel! I would only recomend this hotel to "older" men who are solely in Cabo to fish and seek prostitution! I would NOT recommend this hotel to families or to young single women The front of the hotel is gated for a reason! Friendly, helpful staff, great location, basic and very clean rooms--an incredible value. We'll definitely be staying here the next time we come back to Cabo. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The pool is large with plenty of loungers and surrounded by tropical plantings.
Also two small rooftop sundecks. Free wifi and many people used their laptops sitting at the table and chairs outside each room. And have safety deposit boxes available downstairs. No charge for either just don't lose the towel or the key. There are huge blue jugs of purified water setting out in common areas with a pitcher in your room to fill from them.
Spencer's for breakfast and the pool bar for happy hour 2x1 from Noon to 5pm were both great. I did not make use of these extras but there is a parking lot on premises, you can rent a small refrigerator, bellmen help move luggage, and there is daily laundry service available. I would return again in a heart-beat! I am going to stay at the Mar de Cortez again for the third time in Cabo when I go fishing this November It is clean, very affordable, and has a big freezer to store my fish I catch.
