Geneva is famously known for its chocolate shops, watchmakers and of course, the home of the United Nations. Transforming with every turn and corner, it begins on Rue de Berne, which bustles with life from the early hours of the evening right into the thick of the night.
Even during the day, women can be seen showcasing themselves and waiting for work. Situated close to the railway station, there are hotels in the surrounding area and even a primary school.
It is also home to many immigrants seeking ways to make money and the region is known to attract petty criminals, local gangs and drug dealers. Despite this, it is still considered safe to visit. There are plenty of cameras covering the area while the police are constantly present and it is very rare for any trouble to brew. That being said, whether you a resident or a tourist it is still advised to travel around the area with at least one other person, especially at night.
Provided you are vigilant you can still enjoy the bars, restaurants and lively nightclubs available in this unrestrained and less well-known part of Geneva.
