One of the country's youngest convicted traders in Internet child porn dealt in pictures which were "particularly gross", an Auckland court heard yesterday. Daniel Rene Molloy, unemployed, was 17 when the Department of Internal Affairs uncovered an automated file server on his parents' computer, which he used to trade in pictures of children having sex.
Molloy had advertised on an internet chat room dedicated to child porn that he would trade pictures of pre-teenage children. His sophisticated system meant he did not need to be at the computer to trade. Molloy told investigators he had been trading in porn for two years and knew child-sex pictures were illegal. The department told the court that an officer had downloaded from Molloy's computer seven pictures of children aged between four and 10 having sex.
